When you’re feeling the pressure of life; God promises to give you faith that’s unshakable

Updated: Mar 13, 2019

“I don’t know how much more of this I can take” as I buried my face into my hands exhausted from the day. I know I am not the only one that can get mentally exhausted when challenging situations in life keep popping up one after another. It’s easy to get overwhelmed even to the brink of just wanting to shut down in the midst of a mental storm. In those instances, try not to focus directly on every external factor instead focus on the strength within you.

Every part of life is precious, even the most challenging times and in those moments God wants our faith to be unshakable in Christ.

Jesus said, “These words I speak to you are not mere additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundation words, words to build a life on.
“If you work the words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who dug deep and laid the foundation of his house on bedrock. When the river burst its banks and crashed against the house, nothing could shake it; it was built to last.“
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:46-47‭MSG‬‬

We shouldn’t look at God‘s word as an add-on philosophy to our lifestyle but rather a complete renovation or a developmental upgrade. Our thought-process runs our lives from every action to every decision and not appropriating the right kind of thinking can cause severe damage to our faith. Jesus wants a operative belief system that completely depends on Him and what His words says. The Holy Spirit given to us reveals purpose and the true essence to life through living-out His will, daily.

The reality of His word is practical and is an effective foundation, so when we do face moments in life that are rough, we are positioned to be steadfast in Jesus.

But the Master, GOD, has something to say to this: “Watch closely. I’m laying a foundation in Zion, a solid granite foundation, squared and true. And this is the meaning of the stone: A TRUSTING LIFE WON’T TOPPLE. I’ll make justice the measuring stick and righteousness the plumb line for the building. A hailstorm will knock down the shantytown of lies, and a flash flood will wash out the rubble.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭28:16-17‬ ‭MSG‬‬

I thought the illustration of God’s plumbline was an interesting verse of Isaiah. By His plumbline, The Spirit of the Lord inspects and restores any structural cracks in our heart that would cause one’ faith to waver from Satan’s lies that come through as the “pick-n-choose” or “convenience doctrine” for dangerous-thinking.

Before we go any further; let’s talk about what a plumb line is and how it’s used?

A Plumb line is a weighted hook suspended from a line used to ensure the architecture is balanced by finding depth and vertical structuring in respects to gravity as a focal point.

What is God’s plumb line and how is it used for our benefit?

God uses His word as a plumb-line that helps us discern our true motives for evey action and decision. Imagine a perfect line with a suspended weight leaned out from the window of Heaven directly from God’s hand. This symbolic, context means to assess justice and judgment (Baker, W., & Zodhiates, S. 2008 p. 1910). It’s a figurative impression that His word brings balance to our heart, our mind from wrong thinking manifested from the belief of false doctrine.

God’s perfect plumb line is an essential tool; it makes sure our walls of our heart are well guarded against the enemy’s bent tactics because a unsecured wall will eventually fall with enough pressure, causing the whole structure to crumble.

Building a strong life of faith is building into the spiritual foundation of Jesus Christ our Savior. And because Jesus Is The Way, The Truth, and The Life; this makes Him so precious and valuable to your life and mine. Because God chose you, you are being built up with His attributes, His character; the mind of Christ is in your possession.

“Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
...
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.”
‭‭I Peter‬ ‭2:4-5, 9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

I want to encourage you today; you are God’s living stone that has been perfectly molded into His Kingdom. You are a chosen generation, a daughter of the Most-High King. And because His grace favors you, you have a Trusting Life in Jesus who will hold you up and even carry you through when trials and tribulations come. The authority by which you speak and believe comes from your spiritual foundation in Christ. Remember, you are stronger than you think. He won’t let you fall apart, and when life gets hard, He will cause you to stand tall. God gave you a heart secured in Him, and by His Spirit the plumb line of your heart is balanced; giving you discernment to what is righteous and by our Chief Cornerstone Jesus Christ, you are unshakable.
