P.S. I Love You, God
Updated: Feb 9, 2019
To be loved without condition. To be loved without restrictions, without limitations, and without wavering. That is how God loves you and me. His Love is a free gift of grace and mercy that could never be earned, that is unconditional and continually pursues. It is God’s Love for us that drew us to Christ. The same Love that Christ Loves us with is the same Love that saved us.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not [a]imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 (NKJV)
I love this scripture because it always reminds me of who I am in Christ even in the midst of my mess, my struggles, and my downfalls. We are made perfect in Christ even when we still fall short.
So, what part of you is perfect and what part of you is still learning to mature in faith?
Let’s talk about it. Let talk about the distinction of knowing the difference between spirit and soul. We are a spirit, that has a soul, that lives in a temporary body. Romans 6 explains that the moment we received Christ as Lord and Savior over our lives, our spirit within was freed from the bondage of sin and our sinful Adamic nature was put to death. So, whether you been walking with Christ for a few days or you have been walking with Him for many years our spirit within are equally saved in Christ, and that’s the part of us that doesn’t need restoration, that part of us that is already perfect and that’s the part of us that is 1/3 Kingdom Heaven ready. It is our spirit-man that is pure who is our true selves within this temporal body, it’s our spirit within who knows no sin and is free in Jesus because it is our spirit-man is where the Holy Spirit dwells within us and it is the Holy Spirit that bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God (Romans 8:16). And that’s God’s Love of making us in His image in spirit (Genesis 2:7).
Being made perfect in Christ why do we have those moments where we act off emotions, and we lose it, (in the reference of not acting Christ-like)?
Let’s be real, we all have those moments where we lose it, and we act off of our emotions whether we say things we didn’t mean, or we do things we didn’t mean. If we know that our spirit-man is perfect in Christ, then why do we still do things that revert back to the old behavior? Does it mean that God loves you less or does it mean you are less saved, or your spirit-man within is broken? Absolutely not! And I will tell you why: The soul you possess, is your personality, your mind, you will, your emotions. Once we become born again in Christ, it is now our soul that has to undergo a continual process of transformations in changing old learned behaviors that our old nature lived by to learning a new way of living out our new lives in Christ here on earth. So, back to the question: why do we have those moments of where we lose it? Scriptures say that majority of this struggle lies within the inner-being (the heart) of the soul that is wounded.
Psalms 109:22 KJV For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me.
The Greek word wounded means traumatizo or trauma (Wounded, 2018). The issue is the trauma we’ve experienced in life whether it be from past childhood experiences, the sin that we committed/commit, or from the sins of people who have sinned against us and hurt us deeply is what wounds our soul. Those are the type of wounds if not dealt with Satan can use against us to his advantage towards either condemnation in shame and guilt or use our wounds within the soul that causes us to revert back to familiar behaviors of our carnal mind in that old sinful nature. But I’m here to tell you to not let your heart be troubled because Satan doesn’t have the advantage over us because of who Jesus Christ is. He is LORD over our lives.
Scriptures tell us that there is no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the Spirit (Romans 8:1 KJV).
Therefore, God doesn’t want to leave our soul wounded. In fact, He longs for our spirit-man and our soul to be unified in Him. Therefore, He strongly yearns for us to come to Him with all our known hurts so that He may extend mercy where it’s needed and extend His grace where it's sufficient so that He can mend the brokenness within.
But what about the hidden wounds within the root of behaviors that we have no conscious reasoning to why we do the things we do?
I want to urge you today to let the word of God examine your heart and ask God in prayer to reveal any hidden wounds within the soul. Because He will. And when the Holy Spirit brings revelation to such wounds, that it is when we can become aware of them and when we are made aware, we can choose to allow God to mend the things that are broken within us.
Scriptures declare that He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds Psalms 147:3
He knows the struggle can be real, He knows when we mess up, but He also knows a repented heart. God knows what you’ve been through and God knows what you are going through now. And that is the type of Love that says, “I love you no matter what.” This love is so deep no human mind can ever fathom the understanding of such depth, such intensity. Scriptures say that He is the direct source of Love because He is Love which makes Him true to His nature. He loves us so much that He gave His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die on the cross for the sins of the world and with that same Love, Jesus Christ loves us so much that He willingly laid down His own life for us, for this is the same Love that reconciles us back to God that frees us from sin and death and heals our soul from such wounds.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed Isaiah 53: 5 NKJV
I earnestly pray that you receive this truth of encouragement in how much He loves you. Remember, your spirit-man within is already made perfect in Christ and that is your true identity in Him. Remember that working out our salvation is a continual process of God healing the soul and changing our thinking. Some wounds take longer to heal than others. So, when we mess-up, repent and move forward, and don’t let the enemy keep you stuck in discouragement. I pray that you continually seek God daily by allowing His love to pour into you in more ways than one; take the time to renew your mind daily by reading His word, surround yourself with people who will pour into you, and get connected to a church home. God will lead you in swapping out old behaviors to a new way of living. Remember who loves you, who won’t stop pursuing you, who calls you by His Name, who fights for you at every moment that He gives breath to your lungs. It is God alone. It is He who is madly in love with you and will be there with you through it all. Oh, and don’t forget when He says…
